An Honest EveryPlate Review
So, What’s Different About the EveryPlate Meal Kit Subscription Service?
First of all, as far as I have been able to see, it is the least expensive. For all of us frugal folks, and people who just want to save money on their grocery expenses, in general, this is great news.
Most dinner kit subscriptions are pretty expensive. You have to pay for all the ingredients to be shipped to you, but then you still have to cook it. With this in mind, you might as well just go out to eat.
That’s not the case with EveryPlate. You will be pleasantly surprised when you give them a try.
How Much Does EveryPlate Cost?
This is the magic with EveryPlate … they only charge $4.99 per serving. Yes, you read that right, I’m being honest with you … less than $5 bucks.
You can try EveryPlate right now and get $20 off you’re first order. You can’t beat that price.
You can’t even get a meal at McDonald’s for $5.00 and the EveryPlate meals come with fresh ingredients. I’m sure they’re much healthier than McDonald’s, too. The other meal subscriptions I’ve tried, Gobble and Hello Fresh, both cost at least double that.
What is the Cheapest Meal Subscription Service?
Of the ones I’ve tried, EveryPlate is definitely the cheapest. I did not see a huge difference in quality, either between the meal kit delivery services, either. So far I’ve tried Gobble, Hello Fresh, and EveryPlate.
What Kind of Meals Do You Get With EveryPlate?
First, you get to choose between about 8 different meal options. These are the meals I’ve gotten so far:
- Vietnamese Steak Bowl
- Sweet Chili Glazed Chicken
- Griddled Onion Burgers
- Sweet Sriracha-Glazed Meatballs
- Chicken Fajita Bowls
- Chili-Cherry Glazed Pork Chops
Don’t all those sound delicious? Each one came with a side dish and vegetables. We chose side dishes like Rice, Roasted Yellow Potatoes, Buns, Grilled Onions, Roasted Carrots, Fajita Vegetables, etc. Tom and I usually eat gluten-free, which explains why our choices are a little rice and vegetable-heavy. We let the kids eat the burger buns and Tom and I had our burgers with a salad.
How Do the Ingredients Come in the EveryPlate Box?
Between Gobble, Hello Fresh, and EveryPlate, I liked the way my EveryPlate box was packed best. So, what was different?
There were ice packs placed in the very bottom of the box and the meat was packed sandwiched between ice packs. Then, all the other ingredients were placed in a cardboard box/tray that sat on top of that. It was a nice way to keep the meat separate from all the other ingredients.
Are the Recipes Easy to Make?
They were pretty simple to make. They require a little bit of chopping to start with and also combining ingredients for sauce, but most recipes were finished in about 30 minutes. The thing that took the longest was reviewing the recipe to make sure I put everything together in the right order. Since you’re making recipes that you’re not familiar with, this step takes a few extra minutes.
Are EveryPlate Meals Healthy?
This answer is going to be a little different depending upon who you’re asking. Most of the meals came with a protein, a grain or potato, and vegetables. My husband and I eat reduced carbs so I tend to pick recipes that are easy to separate.
Are EveryPlate Meals Family Friendly? Do the Kids Like Them?
My kids were really pleased with the meals. They quickly gobbled up everything that we cooked. As a family of 6, we were able to cook the 4-person meal kit and have plenty of food. Sometimes I did add a salad since Tom and I weren’t eating the bread, rice, or potatoes.
Are EveryPlate Meals Hard to Make?
Absolutely not. I had my daughter help me make some of the meals and she had no problem following directions or staying on track. It’s actually a great way for kids (or even adults) to learn to cook. The directions teach you to make 3 meal components all at once, helping you figure out how to time things so everything comes out hot at serving time.
Concluding My EveryPlate Review
I think EveryPlate is a great value and the best meal subscription service that I’ve tried. I will keep using it during weeks that are busy when I don’t have time to meal plan or shop. It is cheaper than going out to dinner but provides that exciting flavor that I’m looking for when I eat out. I love the options provided and definitely feel like there is plenty of food included in each meal kit. I think it’s worth it for everyone to give a try.
